Short Walks in Monmouthshire
Monmouthshire and the Wye Valley offer walks for everyone, so if you don’t fancy a long trek, why not try out one of our many shorter walks taking in our best sights and attractions. They are split into walks in the Wye Valley, walks in the Vale of Usk and general countryside walks that do not fall in any one particular area.

Wye Valley Heritage Walks: Three loops off the Wye Valley with particular focus on history & heritage.
- : 5 Mile Circular Walk along Tintern’s Angidy Valley.
- : 6 Mile Walk through Piercefield Park, near Chepstow.
- : 3 Mile Circular Walk around Llandogo.
: Three walks specifically designed to be available for walkers, cyclists and horses. The walks are:
- : 11 mile walk (or trot, or cycle!) around Tintern & the Angiddy Valley
- : 5.5 mile walk around Rural Monmouthshire near Monmouth. Can also be split into 2 shorter, family friendly walks.
- : 14 1/2 mile walk around the scenic Wye Valley.

Town Walks: Fully explore and appreciate the towns of the Vale of Usk with the following walks:
- Abergavenny ‘Trails and Tales’: A family walk around Abergavenny.
- : Three circular walks in and around the village of Raglan, from 1.5m to 3.5m.
- : Twenty-one walks in and around the town of Usk, from 2 miles to 14 miles.
Wentwood Forest:
: At you’ll find six lifesize sculptures representing mythical or historical characters from Monmouthshire’s past. Each has a trail attached which enables you to explore the legends and the countryside that inspired them. The walks are of varying length (not always short!) and are as follows:
- : A long 36 mile walk from Monmouth to Caerleon, via Tintern, Mathern & Caerwent.
- : 1 mile walk around the historic village of Grosmont.
- : 1.75 mile walk around Monmouth. Suitable for all ages & disabilities.
- : Strenuous 5 mile walk around Tintern and the Wye Valley.
- : 6 mile flat, linear walk along the River Severn from Black rock to Undy.
- : Strenuous 11 mile walk from the Old Station, Tintern to the village of Mathern.
