870 miles of Coastal Path has to start somewhere, and lucky for us it is right here in the Wye Valley & Vale of Usk (and technically it ends here too). Starting in Chepstow the path runs along the lower Wye Valley, then traces the beautiful Gwent Levels offering stunning views across the Bristol channel towards England.

History and Heritage, Nature and Beauty, you can explore it all along this opening stretch of the Wales Coast Path. Start at Chepstow Castle, the oldest stone castle in Britain and a testament to Norman might. Then marvel at the British industrial age as you ride Newport Transporter Bridge, one of only 8 in use in the World! Or maybe try out a bit of Birdwatching at the RSPB run Newport Wetlands, then watch the Lave Nat Fishermen ply their trade in the shadows of the Severn Bridges.

Of course, we don't just offer walks along our coast. You may want to branch off and try walking the River Wye or Usk, or perhaps the whole Offa's Dyke Path. The choice is yours, and our walking page offers many short and long distance walks for you to experience.
