Long distance walking routes

...in the Wye Valley & Vale of Usk

Several of our walking trails have dedicated websites, with advice on walking long distances and links to accommodation and interesting sights to look out for.

Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal: Celebrating it's 200th birthday this year, keep your eyes peeled for various events & walks celebrating this anniversary.

Wales Coast Path: Wales' coastline has been named by Lonely Planet as "the greatest region on Earth to visit in 2012”. Well if you fancy walking it, you have to start or finish at the Wye Valley! Download a map of the Chepstow - Black Rock Picnic Site here or download a map of the whole Monmouthshire section here. If you want a whole host more information, then check out the Countryside Council for Wales' website, which includes guides, maps, things to do and more!

The Monnow Valley Walk is a shorter route following the river along the Welsh/English border to its meeting with the Wye at Monmouth. And the Wales Coastal Path aims to link to Offa's Dyke Path to create a long distance walking route that includes the entire perimeter of the country.

Route guides for many of these long distance trails, and a variety of shorter walking routes, are available from tourist information centres. The Monmouthshire Countryside Service also publishes much information on walking in the Wye Valley & Vale of Usk.
